So when I'm performing, I don't really worry about "What's the next lyric/note?" I trust that I've rehearsed the piece enough that it will come out "technically passable." I don't worry during the performance if I am "technically perfect." Instead I focus on emotionally expressing myself, and trying to connect with the audience. (Would you rather listen to a singer who is technically perfect, or a singer who has connected with you emotionally?) After a performance, I have no idea if I was entirely on pitch, or maybe a few cents flat. I do know if I was able to connect with an audience.
I have often said that the Darkwinner is like Batman (without the millions) and like Spider Man (without the radioactive spider bite.) However, the Darkwinner does have instincts like Batman's deductive hunches, or Spiderman's Spider sense.
I can sense if I am connecting with an audience (or an individual.) If they understand what I am saying, or if they are daydreaming about something else whilst I am talking. I'm guessing most "above average" performers develop this ability as well.
I can also sense if (most people) are lying to me, or are hesitant to reveal something about themselves. It comes from being a good observer, as well as being a good director who can notice when an actor's performance lacks resonance because the acting is "fake."
