Omaha Callbacks: Ending Silliness

So after I got cut by Ken, I wonder if they were just testing me to see if I would still fight back as non-Darkwinner/Victor Abson. (Nigel and Head Judge B were impressed by how I stood up to Nigel. In Chicago, I thought Head Judge B wanted me to fight back, so I did [and I won]. So if they'd put me through to fight, I'd be happy to oblige them.

Fighting back

I start to leave and say:

Me: Is it because I am "banned for life" or because I forgot the words?"
Ken: "You just didn't very good."
Me: You know I was kind of hoping I could complete my hat trick of standing up to mean British judges. I was hoping for Simon but you'll do. So... "You're not famous...and....and... er that's all I've got."
Ken: [Looks at me amused. Hey, even I knew that it was a lame insult]
Me: Aw c'mon, Simon and Nigel have fun being mean, now it's your turn, you can be as mean to me as you want.
Ken: There isn't time for this. In a second I'll have you escorted out.
Me: Hey really? That'd be great. Sometimes I think Nigel would have put me through if I had just stuck around longer in Birmingham.
[Bouncer escorts me to the door.]

So I fought back against Nigel and David Ian and won. But I didn't really fight Ken, because, well, he was no fun. Seriously, I think Ken is secure in his "behind the scenes" position that he's not desirous of earning a "mean" reputation. So while the Darkwinner is the Nigel Annihalator and the David Destroyer, I can't add Ken Killer or Simon Slayer to my titles. :(

After getting cut, I dropped my serious/boring act (What did I have to lose). But I was 80% sure going in that I was getting cut no matter what I did (boy, was I wrong), so I was prepped to fight just for fun. But I think they knew I was prepared (versus Birmingham and Chicago, where I got torpedoed when I was pretty sure I was going through to the next round, and so those fight backs were more genuine.)

Oh, and I think Ken deliberately gave me a "lame" critique, because he knew if Ken said something "excessively mean" I might mis-interpret that as "I really like you." And he avoided specifics so I didn't have anything to fight back with. Smart guy, that Ken....

The goodbye scene

So traditionally, after someone makes it through (or gets cut), there is a scene of jubilant (or comforting) hugging by the contestants' supporting friends and family. I never had one of those scenes. So after getting cut, I go out and start hugging all the girls in line after me. "I got cut" I say as I hug one girl. "Goodbye, I'll miss you!" I say to another strange girl. I try to hug a producer/assistant, but she successfully avoids me. I thought it was pretty funny. And I'm hoping one of the girls in line after me makes it to the top 10, so I can say - "Oh yeah, I hugged her back before she was famous!"
